There are two ways to hire a Freelancer on Tasksyy. You can buy a Service that a Freelancer has already set up, or you can post a Project and let Freelancers respond with Proposals. Both lead to the same place: the work gets done and paid for on Tasksyy. The difference is who makes the first move, and how much of the scope is already defined.
This guide explains how each route works and how to choose between them.
What is a Service?
A Service is a defined offer created by a Freelancer. It has a title, a description and one or more packages. Each package shows a price, a delivery time, the number of revisions included and what is in or out of scope.
For example, a web designer might offer a Service called “WordPress website redesign” with three packages: a single landing page, a five-page site, and a five-page site with a blog and basic SEO setup. You compare the packages, choose the one that fits and proceed to hire.
Every new Service is reviewed by the Tasksyy team before it goes live on the marketplace.
How buying a Service works
- Search or browse Services and filter by category, skills, price, type, delivery time and rating.
- Open a Service to read the details and compare its packages.
- Check the Freelancer’s profile.
- Choose a package, select Proceed to hire and pay at checkout.
- The Freelancer delivers. You review the work, request a revision if needed within what the package includes, and complete the order.
What is a Project?
A Project is a custom work request posted by you, the Employer. You describe what you need, your budget and the skills required. Freelancers who think they are a good fit send you a Proposal explaining how they would do the work, how long it would take and what it would cost.
For example, you might post a Project called “Build a booking website for a physiotherapy clinic”, with a description of the pages you need, the booking system you use and a budget range.
How posting a Project works
- Post your Project from your Employer dashboard.
- Your Project appears on Find Projects, where Freelancers can filter by category, skills, budget, mode and experience.
- Freelancers send Proposals.
- You compare the Proposals and the Freelancers’ profiles, then choose one.
- The work begins, is delivered and reviewed, and the Project is completed.
When a Service is the better choice
Choose a Service when:
- You know what you need. “A logo”, “a 1,000-word blog article” or “a Shopify store setup” are well-defined pieces of work that Freelancers commonly package.
- You want to see the price up front. Packages show the price, delivery time and revisions before you commit.
- You want to start quickly. There is no need to write a brief and wait for Proposals. You choose a package and the order starts.
- The work is fairly standard. If what you need closely matches what a Freelancer already offers, a Service saves time on both sides.
When a Project is the better choice
Choose a Project when:
- The work is custom. If your requirement does not fit neatly into an existing package, a Project lets you describe it in your own terms.
- You want to compare approaches. Different Freelancers may suggest different ways to solve the same problem. Proposals let you see those options side by side.
- The scope is larger or has several parts. A website with integrations, a content plan across several months or a mix of design and development usually needs a proper brief.
- You are not sure which skills you need. Proposals can help you understand what the work actually involves.
A quick comparison
| Service | Project | |
|---|---|---|
| Who starts it | The Freelancer creates the offer | The Employer posts the request |
| Scope | Defined in the package | Defined in your brief |
| Price | Shown up front | Proposed by each Freelancer |
| Best for | Clear, common tasks | Custom or larger work |
| Time to start | As soon as you hire | After you review Proposals |
Examples
Example 1: A new logo
You run a café and need a logo. You know what you want and roughly what it should cost. Browse design Services, compare packages by the number of concepts and revisions, and hire directly. A Service is the simpler route.
Example 2: A website with online booking
You run a clinic and need a website where patients can book appointments, connected to the booking tool you already use. The details are specific to your business, so post a Project. Explain the pages, the booking tool and your budget, and let Freelancers propose how they would build it.
Example 3: Ongoing social media content
You need four weeks of social media posts. Some Freelancers package this as a Service with a set number of posts per week. If one matches your needs, buy it. If you need something unusual, such as posts in two languages with custom graphics, a Project gives you more room to explain.
You can use both
The two routes are not exclusive. Many Employers start with a Service for a small, well-defined task, then post a Project for larger work later. If you find a Freelancer you like through a Service, their profile shows their other Services too.
What stays the same either way
Whichever route you choose, payment is made on Tasksyy when you hire, not directly to the Freelancer. The Freelancer delivers the work, you review it, and the order is completed. Both sides can then leave a review. You can read more on our Trust & Safety page.
Summary
- Choose a Service when you know what you need and want a clear price up front.
- Choose a Project when the work is custom and you want Freelancers to propose their approach.
